Lesley is in the Midlands in the central area of England, did worse and worse on T4-only for 26 years, then on her own, got on Natural Desiccated Thyroid, started treating everything else, and she soars!!

I am in the UK and was on levothyroxin for 26 years and always told I was in normal range. But I still felt ill and even worse as I got older.

Found the revised STTM book and decided to self medicate. I purchased my own Natural Desiccated Thyroid eight months ago, getting all the relevant blood tests done– some on NHS and some privately. I then worked on getting my ducks in a row.

I did not tell my doctor. But we had a new Nurse Practitioner. So I went to her and explained…and she was very interested in the book. I showed her the revised STTM book and found out her mother is hypothyroid, as well. She ordered the book and said she would monitor me which is great. But even though she does request the blood tests, NHS only does what they seem fit (which is inadequate). So I still get mine done privately, which I prefer.

I have never felt better! There are ups and downs but I have my life back and am off NHS meds, i.e. antidepressants, blood pressure meds, etc. My cholesterol is right down and they bullied me for years to take statins, which I refused.

I am losing weight. I never fall asleep in the afternoon. I go out more now and mix with people as I didn’t before. Would never go to an endoknob, as we call them in the Midlands. I do not want the stress. Soon I am going to see a nutritionist that does functional medicine to sort my diet out. If it was not for Janie Alexander Bowthorpe and her brilliant groups, I dread to think where I would be today. Many thanks Janie
