Your doctor won’t treat you due to a so-called “normal” TSH? Claims your symptoms are due to “something else”? Forced to be on nothing but T4? Never getting better? Learn from the experiences and observations of other patients, as YOU are your own best advocate!!

Janie A. Bowthorpe, M.Ed., hypothyroid patient and STTM creator

What is “thyroid madness“?

  1. Treating most hypothyroid or Hashimoto’s patients with T4-only medicine, or underdosing with T3.
  2. Diagnosing or dosing solely by the TSH. Falsely claiming the natural low TSH with T3 in one’s treatment causes bone loss or heart problems.
  3. Prescribing anti-depressants, statins, pain meds, anti-anxiety meds etc. in lieu of being on T3 and taking enough to rid oneself of all the latter.
  4. Telling thyroid patients that T3 meds are dangerous, in spite of T3 being made by healthy thyroids.
  5. Not understanding cortisol problems we tend to get, or using blood to test cortisol instead of saliva.
  6. Failing to see the OBVIOUS symptoms of poorly treated thyroid problems, and instead, recommending a slew of other tests and diagnoses.
