There have been MASSIVE changes with our daughter.
She was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s early this year, with a TSH of 19+, high antibodies, low in range T3. We finally got our doctor to agree to change her to Natural Desiccated Thyroid/NDT (in this case, Erfa from Canada) in April after four terrible months on Synthroid.
The back story; my daughter has been suffering from anxiety, depression, and fear for the better part of 2-3 years. It has been a real struggle to support her through this the past few years. When she was diagnosed there was hope, because we had found a root cause. At the time my doctor was adamant that we put her on Synthroid, even after the years of success with me on NDT.
Well, Synthroid made things WORSE. It was awful. My daughter’s depression got worse, her anxiety was through the roof. We started to plan to home school her and begin therapy sessions. Then in April our doctor wanted to put her on anti-depressants. I put my foot down and told her that before I start down the road of anti-depressants, I will start treating her on my own with my personal two-year supply of NDT. I also urged our doctor to reconsider her stance on prescribing NDT for her. I also gave her contacts for doctors that prescribe NDT successfully. Two weeks later she agreed to prescribe.
Fast forward to today, Lily is now on 2.5 grains, 1.5 grains at 3am and 1 grain at 11am. She has been on this dose for almost 3 months. Her life has completely transformed! Depression is 80% reduced, anxiety 70% reduced, fear almost non-existent. What remains is normal adolescent thoughts and feelings. She is outgoing, can manage school, is comfortable in social settings, and has a general positive outlook on life. Our doctor is completely dumbfounded by the transformation. She literally teared up at our last session after hearing directly from Lily how her life has changed.
Can you believe it??!! Without the knowledge from STTM, my daughter would have been relegated to a life of misery, pain and hopelessness.
